Dividing entities
The DIVIDE command places markers - points or blocks - along a selected entity. The markers divide the entity into a specified number of equal parts.
You can divide lines, polylines, arcs, circles, ellipses, elliptical arcs and splines.
Dividing an entity using points
- Launch the DIVIDE command.
You are prompted: Select entity to divide:
- Select an entity.
You are prompted: Number of segments [insert Blocks]:
- Type a value, then press Enter.
The entity is divided by points.
Dividing an entity using blocks
- Launch the DIVIDE command.
You are prompted: Select entity to divide:
- Select an entity.
You are prompted: Number of segments [insert Blocks]:
- Choose the Blocks option.
You are prompted: Name of block to insert [? to list]:

(option) Press the ? key to see a list of available blocks in the drawing.
- Type the name of a block.
You are prompted: Align blocks with entity? [Yes-align blocks/No-do not align] <Yes-align blocks>:
- Choose whether or not to align the blocks.
You are prompted: Number of segments:
- Type a value, then press Enter.
The entity is divided by blocks.
