ELLIPSE command
Creates an ellipse or elliptical arc.
Icon:
Alias: EL
Description
Create an ellipse or elliptical arc from a combination of options including the center, axis endpoints, axis radius, rotation angle, and included angle.
Method
This command has 3 methods to begin creating an ellipse:
- First end of ellipse axis
- Arc
- Center
If the PELLIPSE system variable is set to 1, the Arc option is not available.
Options within the command
- First end of ellipse axis
- Allows you to begin creating an ellipse by specifying a point on the ellipse’s first axis.
- Second end of axis
- Specifies the end point of the ellipse’s first axis.
- Set Other axis
- Specifies the radius of the other axis.
- Rotation
- Specifies the angle of the ellipse around the major axis. The angle can vary between 0 and 89.9. An angle of 0 degrees draws a circle. An angle of 89.9 degrees draws a very thin ellipse.
- Arc
- Allows you to begin creating an elliptical arc by specifying the first and the second ends of ellipse axes, and the radius of the axis.
- Set start angle of arc
- Specifies the start angle to define the arc’s starting point. The angle is measured counter-clockwise from the positive x-axis.
- Parameter
- Specifies values for the parametric formula that defines the elliptical arc:
- Included angle
- Specifies the included angle, measured from the starting point.
- End angle
- Specifies the end angle to define the arc’s endpoint.
- Center
- Allows you to begin creating an ellipse or elliptical arc by specifying its center point.
