-RENAME command
Renames entities via Command line.
Alias: -REN
Description
Renames named entities via the Command line, supporting wildcards to adjust the entity selection.
Note: In the replacement pattern, the asterisk (*) wildcard expands to the end of the string (the wildcard is handled as max greedy). Thus, patterns like '
*-old' (source pattern) and '*-new' (replacement pattern) cannot be used to rename or batch-rename entities (for example, renaming 'layer1-old' and 'layer2-old' to 'layer1-new' and 'layer2-new'). For that, a LISP routine is needed.Important: It is not possible to change the names of attached files, such as images and external references, nor the following names:
- Layer "0"
- Linetype "ByBlock", "ByLayer", or "Continuous"
- Text style "Standard"
- Dimension style "Standard"
- Multiline style "Standard"
- Visual style "2DWireframe"
