SURFPATCH command
Creates a new surface by fitting a cap over edges or curves that form a closed loop.

Description
Creates a surface that fills open regions in a 3D model by generating a continuous surface that blends with edges or curves that form a closed loop on the surrounding geometry.
Method
Select surface edges or curves, or select an edge or curve of chain to patch.
Note: If the HOTKEYASSISTANT system variable is On, the Hotkey Assistant widget is displayed. Press the Ctrl key to switch the selection mode.
You can adjust continuity, bulge magnitude, or add guide curves or points to shape the patch. After the adjustments are done, press Enter to finish the command.
Options within the command
- CHain
- Selects a connected sequence of edges or curves.Note: All edges or curves in a chain are automatically highlighted when you hover over one of them.
- Yes
- Confirms the chain is the desired one.
- No
- Cancels the selected chain.
- CUrves
- Adds curves to the selection set.
- Edges
- Adds surface edges to the selection set.
- Continuity
- Controls how smoothly the patch surface blends into the surrounding geometry.
- G0
- Creates a simple cap. This is the default option.
- G1
- Creates a smoother and more refined cap.
- Bulge magnitude
- Defines the amount of curvature or roundness in the patch surface.Note:
- Changing the bulge magnitude requires G1 continuity.
- The bulge magnitude needs to be a value between 0 (inclusive) and 1 (exclusive). The default value is 0.5.
- Guides
- Allows you to use additional curves or points to influence the shape of the patch surface.Note: Guides can only be used when the continuity is G0.
- Accept
- Accepts the added guide curves or points.
- Cancel
- Cancels the added guide curves or points.
- Restart
- Restarts the selection for additional curves or points.
