BricsCAD Support for Non-Microsoft Networks
Question
Do the BricsCAD products support non-Microsoft networks?
Symptoms
When using the Microsoft SharePoint to manage BricsCAD drawing files you can encounter some issue such as:
- Changes to the drawings are not saved in SharePoint folders named with diacritical characters.
- When using Share Point functionality to archive the previous version of a file when editing it, the BAK file is archived not an old DWG file.
Cause
Non-Microsoft network environments can interfere or cause failures and other issues when working with BricsCAD files, as the BricsCAD products use the SMB protocol to manage files.
Solution
We recommend Bricsys 24/7 as the optimal solution when working with BricsCAD / DWG / BIM models (www.bricsys.com/en-intl/247/), but as BricsCAD products are designed to conform to Microsoft Network API standards, all other networks that are not Microsoft networks are considered third-party network connectivity products, so you can:
- Make a two-way integration with Bricsys 24/7 and SharePoint using their APIs.
You can check the Bricsys RESTful API documentation here:
- Use a third-party integration like Cooperlink. You can Sync one-way or two-way folders/files between SharePoint and Bricsys 24/7. That means that if somebody puts a file on Bricsys 24/7, it is automatically stored in your SharePoint as well.
