Creates a detail and saves it in the library.
Accessing the Command
Commandline: BIMCREATEDETAIL
: bimcreatedetail
A dialog displays:
Click the Select Reference Solids button.
The Create Detail dialog closes.
Prompts you: Select reference solids. These will not be copied, but used to match other locations. [selection options (?)]: (Select one or more solids, then press Enter.)
The Create Detail dialog displays with feedback about the detail creation:
Click the Select Details button.
The Create Detail dialog closes.
Prompts you: Optional. Select detail objects (solids, block references, faces, edges,...) to be copied. [selection options (?)]: (Select one or more detail objects, then press Enter).

Click the Select Sections button.
The Create Detail dialog closes.
Prompts you: Select one section. [selection options (?)]: (Select a BIM section,)
The Create Detail dialog displays with feedback about the detail creation:
Type a name for the detail.
Select a category in the drop-down list or type a name to create a new category.
Detail categories are subfolders of the Details folder which is defined by the DETAILSPATH system variable. By default this is C:\ProgramData\Bricsys\Details\.
Click the Create button.
Prompts you: Blue: detail area. Purple: reference contact area. Accept? [Accept/Reject/Inflate first] <Accept>: (Press Enter, or choose an option.)
The Save Detail dialog displays:
Do the following:
- (option) Click Pencil icon on the detail thumbnail to adjust the image.
The Save Detail dialog closes, then adjust (Move, Zoom, Rotate) the view.
Prompts you: Accept thumbnail frame [Ok]: (Press Enter.) - (option) Add Tags to the detail that can be used to find the detail in the Details Panel.
- (option) Expand the automatically generated Reference solid tags that are assigned to each reference solid and delete unwanted tags.
- (option) Expand the automatically generated General tags and delete unwanted tags.
Click the Save button.
A *.dwg file is created in a subfolder of the details folder, which is defined by the DETAILSPATH system variable. By default this is C:\ProgramData\Bricsys\Details\. Detail categories are subfolders of the Details folder.
- The detail name is the *.dwg file name.
- Reference solids sit on the REFERENCE_SOLIDS layer.
- Detail objects sit on the DETAIL_OBJECTS layer
- The section entity (if present) sits on the DETAIL_SECTION layer.

BimParametrizeDetail - Generates parameters for a detail in order to easily change dimensions, angles, etc.
