You need a BricsCAD Platinum license for this tutorial.
- Open the Geared_Traction_Machine_2_PMI_assembly.dwg file from Geared_Traction_Machine_2_PMI_assembly.zip.
- Select Geared_Traction_Machine_2_PMI in the Mechanical Browser.
- Click Open (
) on the right-click menu.
- Click the Form Component (
) tool button on the Assembly | Modify panel of the Ribbon.
- Select Deflector Sheave.
- Select the center point of the front face of the Deflector Sheave as the base point of the component.
- Save the file as Deflector_Sheave_2.dwg.
- Select Deflector_Sheave_2 in the Mechanical Browser.
- Click Open (
) on the right-click menu.
- In the Layers drop-down menu on the Home | Layers panel of the Ribbon, select layer “0” and click Color.
- Change the color to 40 and click the OK button.
- Switch to Front view in the LookFrom widget by clicking the bottom triangle.
- Make sure that the Select Faces option in the Settings dialog is switched on (the Select Faces (
) button on the Home | Setting panel of the Ribbon).
- Using a Green Crossing Window Selection, select the groves on the new deflector sheave. Use the CTRL key to change the selection method.
- Delete the groves on the new deflector sheave.
- Using the Select same or less radius fillets (
) button on the Solid | Select panel of the Ribbon, select all fillets on the deflector sheave.
- Delete all fillets.
- Open the Deflector_Sheave.dwg file.
- Click the Copy with base point (
) tool button on the Home | Edit panel of the Ribbon.
- Enter 0,0,0 as the base point.
- Select Deflector Sheave and hit Enter.
- Switch to the Deflector_Sheave_2.dwg file.
- Click the Paste (
) tool button on the Home | Edit panel in the Ribbon.
- Enter -300,0,0 as the insertion point.
- Switch to Front view in the LookFrom widget by clicking the bottom triangle.
- Using a Blue Window-Inside Selection Box select the lateral faces of the deflector sheave. Use the CTRL key to change the selection type.
- Select Move (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Move the faces left, enter a distance of 12 and hit Enter.
- Select the left face of the internal part of the wheel.
- Select Solid Extrude (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Move the face right, enter a distance of 10 and hit Enter.
- Select the left face of the external part of the wheel.
- Click the Same area faces (
) on the Solid | Select section of the Ribbon.
- Select Push/Pull (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Move the mouse cursor left.
- Enter a distance of 17 and hit Enter.
- Using the Same area faces (
) button select the 2 internal cylindrical faces of the deflector sheave.
- Switch to Left view in the LookFrom widget by clicking the left triangle.
- Select Push/Pull (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Align with the internal cylindrical face of the original deflector sheave (or enter a distance of 234) and hit Enter.
- Select the external face of the new deflector sheave.
- Select Push/Pull (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Align with the external face of the original deflector sheave (or enter a distance of 262.5) and hit Enter.
- Switch to Front view in the LookFrom widget by clicking the bottom triangle.
- Make sure that the Snap to center option in the Settings dialog is switched on (Snap to center (
) button on the Home | Entity Snaps panel of the Ribbon).
- Repeat step 15 for select faces of groves on the original deflector sheave.
- Click the Copy Faces (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Select the center point on the left face of the original deflector sheave as the base point (hit SHIFT to fix the dynamic UCS).
- Select the center point on the left face of the new deflector sheave as the insertion point (hit SHIFT to fix the dynamic UCS).
- Delete the original deflector sheave. This is no longer needed.
- Make sure the Select edges option in Settings dialog is switch on (Select Edges (
) button tools on the Home | Setting panel of the Ribbon).
- Select the edges as shown in the picture below and select Fillet (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Enter a radius of 10 and hit Enter.
- Select the edges as shown in the picture below and select Fillet (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Enter a radius of 3 and hit Enter.
- Make sure that the Snap to geometric center option in the Settings dialog is switched on (Snap to geometric center (
) button on the Home | Entity Snaps panel of the Ribbon).
- Draw a circle in the geometric center of one of the sectors between the ribs using Circle (
) from the Draw section of the Quad.
- Enter a radius of 50 and hit Enter.
- Select the circle that was just created.
- Select Solid Extrude (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Enter a distance of 20 with Subtract option and hit Enter.
- Select the hole edges and select Fillet (
) from the Model section of the Quad.
- Enter a radius of 3 and hit Enter.
- Select the depression that was just created.
- Select the Copy Faces (
) on the Solid | Edit panel of the Ribbon.
- In the DMCOPYFACES menu select the Multiple option.
- Select the geometric center of the sector as the base point of copying (hit SHIFT to fix the dynamic UCS).
- Select the geometric center of all other sectors as points of insertion.
- Select the Deflector Sheave and change Color on the Properties panel to RGB:255,191,0.
- Save the Deflector_Sheave_2.dwg file.
- Switch to the Geared_Traction_Machine_2_PMI.dwg file.
- Select Deflector_Sheave_2 in the Mechanical Browser.
- Click Update (
) on the right-click menu.
- Save Geared_Traction_Machine_2_PMI.dwg file.
- Switch to the Geared_Traction_Machine_2_PMI_assembly.dwg file.
- Select Geared_Traction_Machine_2_PMI in the Mechanical Browser.
- Click Update (
) on the right-click menu.
