TIN Densify
After TIN Surface is already being simplified, the user specifies the maximum elevation difference between the simplified TIN Surface and the excluded input points on a specified area in a TIN Surface. All input points that have a greater elevation difference than specified are added back to the simplified TIN Surface.
Procedure: How to densify a TIN surface
- Simplify TIN Surface created from a point file or a point cloud
*Radius for a simplification step = 3, elevation difference = 0.5
- Densify TIN Surface
User has an option to select "TIN Densify" option, after TIN Surface is already being simplified.
The user specifies the maximum elevation difference between the simplified TIN Surface and the excluded input points on a specified area in a TIN Surface. All input points that have a greater elevation difference than specified, are added back to the simplified TIN Surface.
In the first step algorithm takes a random point from all the points that were excluded in the TIN simplification process. Then it is checked whether the "Maximum Elevation Difference" condition is met for the selected point. If the condition is met, the point is added to a simplified TIN Surface, which is consequently updated. For the next excluded point, the elevation difference is checked on the updated TIN Surface. The procedure is repeated until the mentioned condition is checked on all excluded points.
The TIN Density algorithm thus increases the density of points and consequently the accuracy of the TIN surface, either in the selected area or in the entire TIN Surface.
