Create an annotation on a 3D entity
You can add annotations on 3D entities and inform project members.
Important: Annotations cannot be edited or deleted.
- Go to the Files app.
- Click the file name.
The document details window appears.
- Click Open in viewer.
The 3D Viewer opens.
Important: The 3D Viewer opens for 3D models located in documents folders. - Click Annotate in the toolpalette.
The cursor changes to a pin-cursor and the previous selection of elements is unselected.
- Hover the pin over the surface of a 3D entity and confirm the pin placement with a simple click.
The Add annotation window displays.
- Click the Subject field and type in a subject.
- Optional:
- Click the Visibility drop-down menu and select Private to set the annotation to be visible only to certain roles or users.
The Visible to field displays.
Note: By default, the Visibility is set to Public, meaning everyone with view access to the file can see the annotation. - Click the Visible to field.
A list of available users displays.
- Select or deselect users in the list to add or remove them from the Visible to field.
- Optional: Click the X sign near the name of a user to remove it from the Visible to field.
- Click the Visibility drop-down menu and select Private to set the annotation to be visible only to certain roles or users.
- Optional: Click the description field and type in more information.
- Click OK.
The message Annotation uploaded displays.
The pin is placed immediately below the cursor with your user logo inside of it.
Note: Annotations and elements are not coupled. - Optional: Press the Esc key to cancel the annotation creation.
