Using the Library panel in the Mechanical workspace

About

The Library panel () provides quick access to your Mechanical blocks and predefined items. You can add any CAD model to the Library, customize its name and category for easy retrieval, and insert blocks into your drawing by dragging and dropping.

Tip: To keep your library organized, you can delete items you no longer need.

Content of the Library panel

You can control the content of the Library panel in the Menu.

Note: When the COMPONENTSPATH system variable is empty (all paths deleted), the default C:\ProgramData\Bricsys\Components path is added automatically when you close and reopen the Settings dialog box.

Searching the block libraries

Type a search string in the search field to display blocks matching your query in the current category.

Inserting a hex head bolt into your 3D model

This method can be used for most of the blocks in the Library panel.

You can edit the dimension of the bolt during or after the insertion process (via the Properties and Mechanical Browser panels).

  1. Click the Standard Parts > Fasteners > Bolts > Hex Head Bolts.
  2. Click a bolt thumbnail from one of the folders in the panel.
  3. Hover the cursor over the Model Space and click when in the desired position.
  4. If Dynamic dimensions (DYN) is switched on, set the bolt location by entering the dimensions into the DYN fields. Press the Tab key to cycle through the DYN fields. A DYN field turns red to indicate the distance is locked.
  5. Press Enter. The bolt is inserted.
  6. (Optional) To adjust the dimensions of the bolt after it has been inserted, go to the Mechanical Browser panel. Select the bolt, scroll down to the Parameters section and change the parameters as required.

Working with Mechanical blocks

The value of Type property for all blocks in the Bricsys Mechanical library is Mechanical block. These blocks behave similarly to regular blocks.

Use the CONVERTCOMPONENTSTOBLOCKS command to convert Mechanical Components (deprecated) to Mechanical blocks.

Edit Mechanical blocks with the BEDIT command and replace them with the BLOCKREPLACE command.
