The Automatic Vertical Alignment is calculated so that the elevation difference to the terrain line does not exceed the value of the Vertical tolerance parameter, which is set to 0.1 by default.
Once the Vertical Alignment is created, you can edit the value of the Vertical tolerance (2) parameter in the Properties panel.
Additionally, the value of the Update mode (1) parameter is set to Automatic. This means that you cannot edit the geometry of the Automatic Vertical Alignment. To edit it, set the Update mode parameter to Manual.
