Description

Creates 2D polylines, with each segment snapping to the best-fitting line through points in a point cloud.

Method

The command works in the active UCS.

Note: The command works best with a crop boundary (POINTCLOUDCROP command), a section plane view (ACTIVATESECTIONVIEW command), or Outline render mode activated (POINTCLOUDMANAGERPANELOPEN command).

Depending on the current Connect mode setting, the command creates separate single-segment polylines or one multiple-segment polyline.

Change the settings or start creating polylines.

Move the cursor over the point cloud to see a preview of the possible segments. The preview extends as far as points are detected to fit the line segment. Click to accept.

Once the first segment is created, the Hotkey Assistant widget options become available to modify the behavior setting. Press the Ctrl key to switch between the options Default fitting, Ortho override and Two-points override.

Note: The Hotkey Assistant widget is displayed if the HOTKEYASSISTANT system variable is set to 1 and the Display Hotkey Hints for POINTCLOUDTRACE options. checkbox is ticked in the Hotkey Assistant Configuration dialog box (see Hotkey Assistant widget article).

Repeat this for the next segments, then press Enter to end the command.
