Description

Section lines can be created on linear objects such as alignments and string lines, as well as on TIN surfaces.

You can create multiple sets of section lines on the same alignment or string line, each defined with different parameters and referencing different data sources, which are then displayed in the section views.

Two options are available for creating section lines on alignments and string lines:

  • By specifying intervals (station ranges, sampling increments and additional section lines)
  • By specifying stations manually

Regardless of how the section line is created, whether on alignment or a TIN surface, you must define the following parameters:

  • section line group information
  • left and right widths
  • section line name

When creating a section line on a TIN surface, you can pick section line points interactively in the drawing. This enables you to create a polygonal section line. In this way, you can create any number of section lines with different shapes at various locations on the TIN surface.

All section lines on a TIN surface, created within a single execution of the command are placed into the selected section line group.

Once section lines are created, they can be selected and edited directly in the drawing. The following options are available:

  • Arrow grips at the left and right ends allow you to manually adjust the length of each side of the section line.
  • Square grips at the ends of both sides allow you to break the section line, so it is no longer perpendicular to the alignment or string line.
  • Diamond grip in the middle of the section line allows you to move the section line manually to another station along the alignment or string line.

Method

Select an alignment or a string in the drawing, or press the Enter key to open Select Alignment or String dialog box for selection.

Then, the Create Section Line Group dialog box opens.

Click the Create button to open the Create Section Lines dialog box.
