Alias: TR

Method

There are two methods:

  • Trims entities.
  • Extends entities while holding down the Shift key.
Note:
  • The following entities can be trimmed: lines, two and three dimensional polylines, arcs, circles, ellipses, elliptical arcs, splines, rays and infinite lines.
  • Cutting entities can be: lines, splines, polylines, arcs, circles, elliptical arcs, ellipses, rays, infinite lines, layout viewports.
  • Selected circles, lines, or polylines consisting of only one segment entity that does not cross any other entities will be deleted.

Options within the command

mOde
Defines the mode in which the command is acting.
Note: The TRIMEXTENDMODE system variable also controls the trim mode.
Standard
Acts in standard mode, where you must first specify the cutting and boundary edges.
Quick
Acts in quick mode, where all entities automatically act as cutting edges.
Note: In Quick mode, the TRIMEDGES system variable determines whether the edges of the hatches or the hatch patterns with their inside entities count when trimming and extending.
cuTting edges
Defines the cutting entities used as a boundary for trim.
Fence
Trims all entities that cross the selection fence. The selection fence is a series of temporary line segments. The selection fence does not form a closed loop.
Crossing
Trims entities within and crossing a rectangular area defined by two points.
Edge
Toggles between Extend and No extend.
Note: The EDGEMODE system variable also controls how cutting edges are checked.
Extend
Extends the boundary object along its natural path to intersect another object or its implied edge in 3D space.
No extend
Specifies that the object is to extend only to a boundary object that actually intersects it in 3D space.
Projection
Specifies the projection method used when extending objects.
Note: The PROJMODE system variable also controls the projection mode.
No projection
Extends only those entities that intersect real boundaries in 3D space.
xy plane of Ucs
Projects entities and boundaries to the XY plane of the current UCS, and then extends the projected entities that would intersect projected boundaries.
current View
Projects entities into the current view, and then extends them accordingly.
eRase
Deletes the selected entity.
Undo
Undoes the last trim action.
