DRAWORDERBYLAYER command

Opens the Open layer list file dialog box.

BricsCAD Lite; BricsCAD Pro; BricsCAD Mechanical; BricsCAD BIM

Description

Opens the Open layer list file dialog box to select a LST file that controls the display order of entities based on their layers.

Note: A LST file is a text file that contains a list of data and it can be created manually or by different programs.

To create a LST file:

  1. Open a text editor, such as Notepad, and type the names of the layers you want in your LST file, one layer per line. The names should match the layers of the drawing that need to be modified, in the preferred order.
Note: This determines the order in which the entities are drawn. The first layer written in the list is at the bottom, while the last one is on top.
  2. Save the text file with the LST extension.
  3. Open BricsCAD and load the drawing that need to be modified.
  4. Run the DRAWORDERBYLAYER command and select the LST file that you created to apply the changes.

Example:

Draw simple shapes. Each shape should have its own layer.

After using the DRAWORDERBYLAYER command with the file attached at the end of this article, the drawing looks like this:

The LST file used to make changes for this example is: Layer.lst

Note: The layers used in this example are named with the color used for each one of them.
