Inserting blocks with attributes
When you place a block which contains attributes, you will be prompted to define the attributes in the Command line or through a dialog box, depending on the value of the ATTDIA system variable:
- ON: attributes are displayed in a dialog box.
- OFF: you are prompted in the Command line to define the attributes.
To place a block with attributes
- Do one of the following:
- Click the Insert Block tool () on the Insert toolbar or the Insert / Blocks ribbon panel.
- Choose Insert Block in the Insert menu.
- Launch the INSERT command.
The Insert Block dialog box appears.
- Select the block, then click the OK button.
You are prompted: Insertion point for block or [Scale/X scale/Y scale/Z scale/Rotate/Multiple blocks]:
- Specify a point.
All block entities are placed in the drawing, except the attributes.
- Depending on the value of the ATTDIA system variable:
- You are prompted: <Attribute Prompt 1> <Default Text 1>:
- The Edit Attributes dialog box appears.
- Do one of the following:
- In the Command line, for each attribute:
- Press Enter or right click to accept the default text.
- Type a new text in the Command line, then press Enter and define the next attribute.
- In the Edit Attributes dialog box:
- Select an attribute in the list.
The current value is displayed in the Value field.
- Type a new value in the Value field.
- Press OK when all attributes are properly defined.
- Select an attribute in the list.
