POINTCLOUDTRACE command
Creates 2D polylines by snapping segments to points in a point cloud.

Description
Creates 2D polylines, with each segment snapping to the best-fitting line through points in a point cloud.
Method
The command works in a local UCS. Once the command is launched, the current settings are displayed.
Change the settings or start creating polylines.
Depending on the current connect mode, the command creates separate single-segment polylines or one multiple-segment polyline.
Move the cursor over the point cloud to see a preview of the possible segments. The search area to find linear features is indicated by a light blue circle. Move along a segment to define its length, then click to accept. Repeat this for the next segments, then press Enter to end the command or Close to end the command and connect the last segment to the first.
Options within the command
- Settings
- Allows you to access the command's settings.
- Radius
- Sets the maximum search radius.
- Connect
- Sets the connect mode.
- Connected
- Creates a multiple-segment polyline. Extends the previous and current segments to connect them.
- Separate
- Creates single-segment polylines. The segments extend as far as points are detected.
- Ortho
- Defines a new line segment, perpendicular and auto-connected to the previous one. In this mode, there is no snapping to points of the point cloud.
Move the cursor to display the preview of the new segment. Click to accept it.
- TwoPoints
- Defines a new line segment by two points, auto-connected on one side to the previous segment. In this mode, there is no snapping to points of the point cloud.
Click the first point and move the cursor to display the preview of the new line segment. Click the second point to accept it.
- Close
- Ends the command and connects the last segment with the first.
- Undo
- Undoes the last polyline segment and continues drawing from its previous start point.
