Description

Creates 2D polylines, with each segment snapping to the best-fitting line through points in a point cloud.

Method

The command works in a local UCS. Once the command is launched, the current settings are displayed.

Change the settings or start creating polylines.

Depending on the current connect mode, the command creates separate single-segment polylines or one multiple-segment polyline.

Move the cursor over the point cloud to see a preview of the possible segments. The search area to find linear features is indicated by a light blue circle. Move along a segment to define its length, then click to accept. Repeat this for the next segments, then press Enter to end the command or Close to end the command and connect the last segment to the first.

Note: The command works best with a crop boundary (POINTCLOUDCROP command), a section plane view (ACTIVATESECTIONVIEW command), or Outline render mode activated (POINTCLOUDMANGERPANELOPEN command).
