GEOGRAPHICLOCATION command

Allows you to assign geographic location data to a drawing file.

BricsCAD Lite; BricsCAD Pro; BricsCAD Mechanical; BricsCAD BIM

Alias: GEO

Description

Opens the Geographic Location dialog box.

The Geographic Location dialog box allows you to set the geographic location of the drawing by applying the longitude and latitude to a point in the drawing.

  1. GIS Coordinate System
  2. Latitude / Longitude
  3. Position
  4. North direction
  5. Elevation

GIS Coordinate System

Reports the GIS system being used by the drawing.

Note: Click the Browse button () to change the GIS Coordinate System.
Store geographic location information in drawing
When checked, the geographic marker (Survey location marker) is displayed to indicate the position of the Geographic Location point in the drawing.
Use Map Grid coordinate system
When enabled, the drawing is associated with real-world coordinates, the location data from GIS Coordinate System.
Note: When disabled, the origin point is determined by the values entered for X, Y, and Z, which correspond with the latitude and longitude.

Latitude / Longitude

Choose Location
Specifies the geographic location through the Choose Geographic Location dialog box.
Degrees Minutes Seconds Lat/Long
Displays the location in a Degrees, Minutes and Seconds format.
Decimal Lat/Long
Displays the location in a decimal format.
Latitude
Sets the latitude. The valid range is 0 to 90.
Longitude
Sets the longitude. The valid range is 0 to 180.
Time zone

Specifies the time zone from the Time Zone drop list.

Note: This setting is saved to the TIMEZONE system variable.

Position

Specifies the position of the geographic location point in the drawing by entering coordinate values.

Note: You can also select a specific point in the workspace to set the position.

North direction

Specifies the angle of the sun from north, in the context of the world coordinate system (the angle between the True North and the Y-axis, measured clockwise).

Note: The setting is saved to the NORTHDIRECTION system variable.

Elevation

Specifies an elevation for the long-lat point. The value can be positive or negative.

About CSMAP

CSMAP is a coordinate system and map projection that allows users to access more geographic coordinates conversions and more precise geospatial analysis. Coordinate systems are a very important piece of mapping or geospatial coordinates, and are constantly updated.

You can download and install CSMAP coordinate system on demand:

  1. Click here to download the CSMAP coordinate system.
  2. Unzip the archive and copy the content of the coordinate_system folder in the BricsCAD installation folder.

    The default path is: C:\Program Files\Bricsys\BricsCAD V25 en_US.

  3. The next time BricsCAD is started, the GEOGRAPHICLOCATION command will display a combined list of coordinate systems from Geodatabase.xml and CoordinateSystemFiles folder.
