CYLINDER command

Creates a 3D solid in the shape of a cylinder.

Note: In BricsCAD Lite, which doesn’t support 3D solids, the CYLINDER command launches the AI_CYLINDER command.

Alias: CYL

Description

Creates a 3D solid in the shape of a circular or elliptical cylinder. Choose from a combination of options including center, radius, diameter, 3 point, 2 point, tangents, axis endpoints, and height.

  1. Center
  2. Diameter
  3. Radius
  4. Height

Method

This command has 5 methods to begin creating a cylinder:

  • Center point
  • 3 Point
  • 2 Point
  • Tangent tangent radius
  • Elliptical

Options within the command

Select center point
Allows you to begin creating a circular cylinder by specifying the center of the base.
Radius of base of cylinder
Allows you to specify the radius of the cylinder’s base.
Diameter
Allows you to specify the diameter of the cylinder’s base.
3Point
Allows you to begin creating a circular cylinder by specifying three points on the circumference of its base.
First point
Specifies the first point on the circumference.
Second point
Specifies the second point on the circumference.
Third point
Specifies the third point on the circumference.
  1. Point 1
  2. Point 2
  3. Point 3
  4. Height
2Point
Allows you to begin creating a circular cylinder by specifying two points on the circumference of its base
First end of diameter
Specifies the first point on the diameter.
Second end of diameter
Specifies the second point on the diameter.
Note: The two points define the diameter of the base.
  1. Point 1
  2. Point 2
  3. Diameter
  4. Height
Tangent-tangent-radius
Allows you to begin creating a cylinder by selecting tangent points on the first and second entity, and the radius of the circle.
Specify point on object for first tangent
Allows you to select a tangent point on the first entity.
Specify point on object for second tangent
Allow you to select a tangent point on the second entity.
Radius of circle
Allows you to specify a valid radius for the base.
Note: If you specify a radius that is not possible with the selected tangents, you are prompted to specify the tangents and radius again.
  1. Tangent point 1
  2. Tangent point 2
  3. Radius
  4. Height
Elliptical
Allows you to begin creating an elliptical cylinder by specifying three ends of the ellipse axis.
Set first end of ellipse
Specifies the first end of ellipse axis.
Second end of ellipse
Specifies the second end of the ellipse axis.
Other end of ellipse
Specifies the radius of the other ellipse axis.
  1. Center
  2. First axis
  3. Second axis
  4. Height
Specify height
Allows you to specify the height of the cylinder.
2Point
Specifies the height of the cylinder as the distance between any two points.
Axis endpoint
Specifies the axis endpoint to define the height and orientation of the cylinder in 3D space. The center of the base is used as the other axis endpoint.
